Today, 18 years ago, I gave birth to two of the smallest, most adorable humans I had ever seen. Yes, I said two.

So much has happened in these short 18 years, and the two of you have been through so much.

So much of your young life has been full of things no child should ever have to go through, despite all the bad you guys have seen, you have not let that ruin all the good inside you both.

Jeffrey, I have watched you for as long as I can remember genuinely loving and caring about the people around you. Even if you don’t know them personally, if you see someone hurting or struggling, you try to help in any way you can, even if it’s just a smile. You always want to learn more about the people and things around you. You are so funny and smarter than you think. You are growing up to be a wonderful young man, and I am proud to be your mother.

Haylee, my sweet girl, I have so much to say about what a wonderful young woman you are. From the time you could, you have been all about taking care of your family. You are so sweet and that sense of humor tho lol. You got some of your mama’s sass in there, too, which means the world better watch out when it comes to getting on your bad side. I am so proud of how you keep going even when it feels too hard. I love you and am so proud to be your mother.

Now that the two of you are officially starting your journey into adulthood, remember your mom is always a phone call away, and no one has any idea what they are doing out here, so don’t put too much pressure on yourself to have all the answers.

This is the beginning of the road. You have so much time ahead of you, so just enjoy the ride.

Enjoy all this year has in store for you.

Dream big! You can do anything!

Happy Birthday, Jeffrey and Haylee, I love you to the moon and back!
